Men have traditionally kept the skincare topic simple. In the current world, more men are in pursuit of healthy and young-looking skin. The only way to achieve this is by evaluating Men’s skincare routine. The men’s skin is different from women’s skin in several aspects like thickness. Though men’s skin is thicker than women’s skin, the skincare procedures remain the same.
You need to understand your skin type for you to learn how to take care of it. Understanding your skin type will make you choose the correct skincare products.
Warm water in the shower
Many men like staying in a hot shower for a long when it’s cold outside. It’s not a good habit as the water affects the skin (dermis). Long hot water baths dry the skin to become itchy, flaky, and scaly.
The hot water washes away the skin’s natural oils leading to these side effects. If you care about your skin, then use warm water but not hot water. If you must use hot water, then the bathing period shouldn’t exceed five minutes.
Use a moisturizer
Start using a moisturizer every time you wash your face. Moisturizers trap water close to the skin dermis giving a glowing skin treatment. The extra moisture will help in fighting wrinkles. A moisturizer eases dry skin effects and makes chapped, flaky, and patchy skin look and feel better.
A good moisturizer will help you against inflammatory skin problems like eczema. Apply the moisturizer across the entire body after a warm shower. It limits dryness, flaking, and itching.
Use cleansers
Not everything that cleans and lathers are soap. True soap comes from oils, fats, and fatty acids. Cleansers partially or entirely come from synthetic materials.
Cleansers are the best for dermis healthcare than soap. Soaps are the best cleaners and remove dirt and oils from the skin. Soaps will remove more fats from the skin, making the dermis lack a natural moisture barrier. The skin may then start flaking, itching, and scaling.
Cleansers are mild, and you need to be patient if you have oily skin. It will not leave you in shame when you use it.
Soften the stubble
After the morning shave, limit the irritating red bumps that remain on your skin. The razor bumps come from irritated hair follicles. The irritation would be worse if you had stubble that wasn’t soft and nice before the shave.
If you need to soften the stubble, shave in the shower or after stepping out. Warm water in the shower makes the stubble pliable. It makes it more accessible for the razor blade to cut through. Damp skin is also easy to trim.
Apart from shaving cream lubricates, add mild moisturizing shaving cream. You will get better results. Limit products with skin-drying alcohol.
Number of blades
Multi razors shave and leave behind bumps, burns, and ingrown hairs. To avoid this:
- Use at most two blades to limit pulling the skin taut.
- Shave with the grain of the hair and not against it.
- Toss off the disposable blade after five to seven uses
Don’t use aftershaves
Since straight shaves are less common, there is no need to use aftershaves. If you must use an aftershave, then use one without an alcohol base. An alternative to aftershave is using a moisturizer after you shave.
Don’t rub your face but pat it down
When drying your face, try patting the towel rather than rubbing it. The rubbing leaves the skin dried out and irritated. Patting will fix this problem.
Conclusion
Skin disorders or concerns will affect your self-image, performance, and relationship. It’s not late to develop a better skincare routine to regain everything that seemed lost long ago.
