Media Tour – Tuesday – 3.27.18

Atlanta Media Tour had another exciting day in Atlanta as we toured the Suntrust Park and served at North Metro Church!

This morning was another chilly morning, so we all arrived at the school with our warm coats and sweaters.  We started the day off with our time of devotions and prayer led by Justin Day out of Isaiah 61:11.

At Suntrust Park, we had an awesome tour guide named Carl! He was very knowledgeable about the history of the Braves. Our favorite part of the experience was being in the Brave’s dugout. Reid Peykoff had a great time taking pictures with the six-foot Bobblehead Braves team players.

For lunch, our group split up to eat at either Antico’s Pizza or El Felix at Battery Park! Sophia Blake was super excited about the Venti Vanilla Latte that she got for only $2. Our group at El Felix enjoyed the cool decor and the friendly service. The group at Antico’s Pizza felt transported to Italy open Kitchen where we watched the chefs make our pizzas in a brick oven. Many students enjoyed gelato or illy coffee after their meal. We enjoyed some great conversations, laughter, and fellowship. This is a truly great group with wonderful comraderie!

At North Metro Church, we met with Matt Solik, the Creative Arts Pastor, Clark Beasley, the Worship Pastor, Andrew Waldon, the Media Director, and Zach Benson, the Communications Director. We took a “Volun-tour” to allow the students to learn how to use their talents within different areas of the Church. They were taught how to use soundboards, video equipment, stage lighting, and other digital media. We learned about the heart and purpose behind the design, creation, and implementation of a worship service. They told us about the challenge of balancing information with inspiration. The Creative Team members were generous with their time in answering a lot of questions. Even the Lead Pastor, Rob McDowell, was able to take time out of his day to meet with our team.

The students are excited about visiting Channel 11 News and the IBM Media Center tomorrow!
