For our last day together we went to Lake Acworth to do our devotion. The devotion this morning was different than what we did the previous days. We each got a pink balloon and we wrote our strongholds on it. This was a way for us to see it, share it, and let them go. Even though these strong holds we each have will not completely just go away, rather it’s a way for us recognize that these are there and hopefully let go soon. It was a beautiful and sentimental time that we all spent together for the last time.
We then went to the mall and got our nails and makeup done. This was a really nice treat that we all looked forward to. All week long we had pushed past our limit and we were able to see that we could do anything we set our mind to. So today was a nice day to relax and reflect on the week we had. Mrs. Cochran and Coach Sanders split us up into 2 groups. The 1st group went to get their make-up done while the 2nd group went to get their nails done.
After we got all made up and looking pretty, we got lunch and headed back to the school to finish preparing for our photo shoot. We got dressed and headed to the photo-shoot, which was absolutely beautiful and amazing. Each girl got with their photographer which was one to the Photography Spring Term team photographers. The photo-shoot was a way for all the girls to show how beautiful we really are to people, but most importantly to ourselves. This was a great way to end a physically and mentally challenging week!
Today 31:30 Girls had a very emotional devotion. In the devotion we talked about the verses and then Mrs. Cochran read this quote to us. It says “Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough ; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse ; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude ; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune ; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed ; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity ; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity we need more purity. This quote struck us powerfully, that it made us take a look at our selves and see what kind of women we are. Are we being tough women and tender women, are we being coarse women or kind women.
After this powerful devotion that we had as a group we went to the Turn Around Mission to serve. A verse that goes with this is Proverbs 31:20 which says “ she opens her hand to the poor and reaches her hand out to the needy.” While at Turn Around we were able to help with whatever Mrs. Cheryl needed us to do. Even if it was as small as cleaning out the refrigerator, or putting together napkin sets with forks for the Easter dinner coming up that Mrs. Cheryl has planned. We do not realize how much of an impact we made on her and the children even for the small time we were there. We will never know what kind of an impact we had on her mission, but the least we do know is that we did help in some way that we could.
After we completed our mission we had pizza for lunch, then we headed to Coopers Furnace to hike up to the top of the mountain. This was another challenge for us to get through as a group. We were able to encourage each other up the hard hills and when we got to the top, all the pain of our calves, and thighs hurting was just worth going through. At the top of the mountain we were able to look over and see the river and cite our verses. Reciting our verses at the top of the mountain was actually really calming. We were all so nervous about citing our verses but the nerves went away when we looked over and saw the river. Once we said our verse we were able to hike down the mountain as a group. It was a huge accomplishment for all of us to complete as a group.
Today we faced and conquered another challenging day!
We went to Banning Mills to zip line, and some of us had fear of heights, fears of falling off, and even just fears of trying something new for the first time. As we got there and started putting on our gear that we needed, the spirit of fear and anxiety really set in.
The closer and closer we got to the first zip line a sense of shock began to set in, as we realized that this was really happening today, and we were all pushing ourselves to experience new things. As we got up to the first zip line on level 1, it was pretty scary to take that first step off. It was taking that step of faith and trusting that everything will be just fine. The first zip line was like a practice round so we could get the hang of things and get comfortable. However, once we got past the first zip line it was smooth sailing from there.
After we finished up level 1 and we headed on to level 2, there were three zip lines that were waiting for us to complete. The first one on level 2 was really fun because we got to race each other. These zip lines were faster and longer than level 1. The best part about the whole day was realizing that everyone had done something that they might have not wanted to do, or were scared of doing, but by conquering our fears, we really showed what being a Proverbs 31:30 lady was to the people around us.
Today we saw that if we were able to conquer the zip lining that we could do anything we set our minds to! A verse that I think goes well with this day is Philippians 4:13: “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” We ended our day at Starbucks and were able to reflect on our day as a group and share how proud we were of each other.
The 31:30 girls gathered at NCCS on Monday ready to take on the day. We had a big challenge set in front of us, as we were going to bike 26.2 miles!
Our day started with us going to Panera to eat bagels before the bike ride. After enjoying our bagels, we went back to the school to decorate our pink shirts while we waited out the storms. Painting our shirts allowed us to show our creative side, while we had time to laugh and talk before our big ride. During our morning devotion, we went over the verses that we are going to recite, which is Proverbs 31:10-31, and during this time, we were able to master the first 5 verses as a group. Then Mrs. Cochran and Coach Sanders led us in the most eye opening devotion about attitudes. The proverbs 31:30 girls have been reading a book called Beautiful in God’s Eyes, and today we specifically talked through chapters 5 and 6 of the book.
These chapters gave us 5 ways to work with eager hands:
Do your work unto the Lord
Tackle your tasks energetically, creatively, and joyfully
Look for benefits in your tasks
This was such an eye opening devotion, and we took those words with us as we went to ride our bikes. We all conquered the hardest task in front of us with positive attitudes, and even though after the ride we were so sore, each one of us felt a sense of accomplishment.
And last but certainly not least, to end our day we went to get ice cream as a group and enjoy ourselves!
Our day ended on a positive note, and we cannot wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us!!!
