He was considered a minor hence wasn’t tried at that time, but the officers waited till he was eighteen to try him. The accusations could have seen him spend sixty years in jail, but the sentence was reduced to fifteen but was to spend five years.
Allen was jailed at Newport News City correctional facility, but four months later, he was pardoned by then Douglas Wilder, the governor of Virginia. Additionally, his judgment was thrown out after the judge realized that there was no evidence.
