Life isn’t always a walk in the park. Like most people, you probably had thought of giving up on pursuing your goals when you faced unexpected challenges. It’s also likely you’ve experienced rejection, lost a loved one/ a job, or ended a relationship you had invested a lot.
But what can you do when you don’t want to try anymore? The answer is simple! Keep trying because you can always improve and eventually achieve your goals.
Why Do You Feel Like Giving Up?
The first thing you should do to overcome feeling helpless is to find the event that triggered these feelings. Go beyond what happened and define the root cause, whether you feel you’re not good enough or your business failed, and how the loss made you feel.
What to Do When You Don’t Want to Try Anymore
First, remember the price you have already paid and how far you have come. If you give up, you’ll never get to know what it would have been like to accomplish your goals. Again, most successful people failed many times. For instance, Walt Disney was fired from his job because he didn’t have good ideas.
If he had given up on his dreams, his Disney business would have never become successful.
You, too, shouldn’t give up easily but keep working on your goals until you achieve them. Here are the things you can do to change your situation.
Change Your Mindset
Did you know that changing your physiology can turn around a lot of things in your life? Learn to smile when you feel sad or irritated and tell yourself things will get better.
You can also exercise since working out minimizes stress levels and also reduces your risk of dementia. It can be something as simple as jogging or dancing to your favorite music.
Surround Yourself With Supportive People
Ensure the people you interact with are loving and not judgmental. Ask them to help you get back on your feet. You can also learn a new hobby that requires you to join a group like cooking. As you continue to make new friends, stay away from toxic people.
Be Thankful
Being grateful can make you happy. Research shows that being thankful reduces negative emotions like envy. But having a grateful mindset is not easy.
As humans, we tend to think that overcoming our challenges is difficult. Please make it a habit of being grateful for the things you still have despite the present issues. For example, you may have lost your job, but you can still pay house rent.
Consume Healthy Meals
Eating healthy foods such as vegetables and fruits can boost your energy levels. In turn, you’ll have the energy to accomplish your dreams since your mind and body will be healthier.
Also, stay away from junk food like alcohol and sugar as it saps energy from you. When you have less energy, completing simple tasks become difficult and make you feel like giving up.
