Harvey Weinstein is a former American movie producer and a convicted sex offender. Along with his brother, Bob Weinstein, he founded Miramax, an entertainment company that produced famous independent movies, such as The Crying Game, Sex, Lies, and Videotape, and Pulp Fiction among others.
He is an Academy Award winner for the movie Shakespeare in Love and several Tony Awards for August: Osage County, Billy Elliot the Musical, The Producers, etc.

Early Life
Harvey Weinstein was born on March 19, 1952, in Flushing, New York, to parents Max Weinstein and Miriam Weinstein. His father was a gem cutter before he died in 1976. Meanwhile, his mother died in 2016. He has one brother, Bob Weinstein, who is also a famous businessman and producer.
The Weinstein brothers were brought up in a housing cooperative located in New York. He completed his high school in John Bowne High School and attended college at the State University of New York, Buffalo.

In his lifetime, Harvey was married twice. His first marriage was to Eve Chilton Weinstein. They got married in 1987 and got divorced in 2004. They have three daughters together, Remy Weinstein, Emma Weinstein, and Ruth Weinstein.
Three years after, Harvey remarried and tied the knot with Georgina Chapman, a known fashion designer. They have two children, India Pearl Weinstein and Dashiell Weinstein.
After being together for 10 years, Georgina left Harvey with complaints of sexual harassment.
In 2017, Harvey received multiple sexual abuse charges, which resulted in his dismissal in his company. By October 31, 2017, over 80 women have made complaints against Harvey. These complaints triggered the #MeToo campaign in social media that got many women to step up and made the same sexual abuse charges against many powerful men across the globe. This was referred to as the “Weinstein Effect.”
On May 25, 2018, Harvey was arrested and charged with rape. On February 24, 2020, he was found guilty and was sentenced to prison for 23 years. At first, he was held at the Rikers Island Prison but was later transferred to Wende Correctional Facility.
Career
At a young age, Harvey and his brother started getting interested in movies. When they grew up, they established a company that produces and distributes shows and movies. They named it after their parents, Miramax. Their first project was about movie concert movies, like Rockshow.
The company had a successful start and produced films, such as Tie Me Up! Tie me Down!, The Thin Blue Line, The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball, and more. After several fruitful projects, Walt Disney offered the brothers $80 million to own Miramax. They accepted the offer but wanted to stay as the head of the business.
In 2005, the brothers founded another production company called The Weinstein Company. Since it was established, the company was very successful. Some of its projects include The Hateful Eight, The Founder, The Imitation Game, The Butler, Derailed, No Escape, Scary Movie 4, and Scream 4.
