Ron Howard was born on March 1, 1954, in Duncan Oklahoma, to parents Jean Speegle Howard and Rance Howard. He is of German, Scottish, English, Irish, and Dutch descent. In 1958, his family stayed in Hollywood but moved to Burbank after three years.
He attended Desilu Studios and John Burroughs High School. After completing high school, he then went to the University of Southern California’s Cinematic Arts. However, he later stopped schooling and did not finish his degree.

At a young age, Ron already started acting and made guest appearances in shows like The Twilight Zone. He was also in the Andy Griffith Show, where he played the role of Opie Taylor. In 1962, he also made an appearance in the musical film, The Music Man.
In 1973, he was one of the lead actors of The American Graffiti, which was a very successful film and considered as one of the most lucrative films ever made in history.
