Early Life
Alan Eugene Jackson was born on October 17, 1958, in Newnan, Georgia, to parents Eugene Jackson and Ruth Musick Jackson. His parents were fondly called as Daddy Gene and Mama Ruth. He has four sisters and his family is mainly of English ancestry. He and his family lived in a small home in their grandfather’s toolshed, where his mother continued to live until she died in 2017.
As he was growing up, Jackson mostly listened to gospel music and by 1983, he began to write his won music. Later on, his friend introduced him to Hank Williams, Jr., John Anderson, and Gene Watson, all of whom he immediately loved.
He attended the Elm Street Elementary School for his early school years and then transferred to Newman High School. After graduating, he joined a band called Dixie Steel.
